In 2022 I was approached by TGJ to help illustrate a story from issue No. 24 written by Casey Bannon about the love connection between golf and hip-hop. The Golfer's Journal is a member-supported quarterly publication dedicated to artful golf storytelling, world-class events, and a community built around a genuine love of the game.
The Brief
Illustrate the unlikely romance between hip hop and golf.
The Approach
Starting with loose, expressive illustration work, I developed a series of visuals that live at the intersection of two worlds that have more in common than most expect. The work leans into the energy and attitude of hip hop culture while staying rooted in the game. The illustrations worked in step with the editorial, deepening the story and giving it a visual dimension.
